Lexington. MO FFA Members at State Convention

The Lexington FFA chapter recently embarked on a trip to Columbia, Missouri for the 96th Missouri FFA State Convention. During their time there, the members immersed themselves in the full state convention experience, attending numerous sessions and engaging in various activities aimed at deepening their involvement in the state FFA community. Among the ways in which members contributed to the convention was through participation in the courtesy corps, where they volunteered to assist in various capacities to ensure the smooth operation of the event.

While many members took part in the Courtesy Corps, Mary Beth Adkins and Maddy McDowell received recognition on stage for their achievements in earning the Missouri Youth in Agriculture Scholarship. Throughout the convention, members attended general sessions that provided insights into the functioning of FFA meetings by state officers, inspiring them and offering numerous ideas for more efficient management of meetings and banquets.

Another highlight of the convention was the opportunity for members to attend a variety of workshops. One such workshop, the Teach Ag Workshop, aimed to underscore the importance of imparting agricultural knowledge to others. Additionally, Maddy McDowell represented the Lexington FFA in extemporaneous speaking at the state level, showcasing commendable performance.

Members also enjoyed a scavenger hunt around the Mizzou campus, deepening their understanding of the university's history. A notable aspect of the state convention was the Missouri talent category, where members showcased their talents and interests before a statewide audience. Mary Beth Adkins seized the opportunity to perform aerial silks at the second general session, captivating the audience.

The trip culminated in a series of achievements for the Lexington FFA chapter, with Maddy McDowell, Lexi Smith, and Molly Martin earning their state degrees and Molly Martin earning a proficiency award for her SAE project. The chapter expresses immense pride in the accomplishments of its members at the Missouri State FFA Convention and extends gratitude for the invaluable opportunity to participate in the event.
